[Side B] Spring 2017 – Week 4 in Review

mpv-shot0001.jpg

Okay, this post came out a bit later than expected because I spent the whole day yesterday (and half of today) playing Mariokart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. This might sound weird, but the last time I’ve ever played MarioKart was waaaaaay back during the SNES era… So yeah, let’s just say that I realized A LOT has happened to the franchise since then.

But anyway, we’re supposed to be talking about anime. This week is a bit strange because Little Witch Academia got delayed for some reason, so there are just six shows to talk about. Things are pretty much “okay” you can say. So far, Spring 2017 has been a disappointment — I’m not gonna lie — but yeah, so enough chit chat: let’s RUN ‘EM DOWN! Continue reading

[Side B] Spring 2017 – Week 3 in Review

mpv-shot0001.jpg

Wew. I was gone for longer than I thought.

So I was planning on spending a peaceful spring break with nothing but a book and my animu, and along comes one of my publishers asking for a last-minute “save” on a manuscript for translation. There goes my plans for some “me-time” during the break. Although I was able to avoid any unnecessary distractions since my roommate technically “loaned” my Switch from me. He’s busy trying to pull out the Master Sword in the Lost Woods, even though he only has five hearts. Silly sod.

And that brings us to week 4, but I guess it hasn’t been that long since my Side B releases under week 3 have aired, so I’m gonna wing it. Nothin’ gon’ stop this ‘ere train, ya hear! *shakes fist violently*

So let’s do this! Continue reading

Spring 2017 – Initial Impressions

mpv-shot0001.jpg

IT’S HEEEEEERE!!!

Man, this is a pretty stressful season as early as the first two weeks. And I say that because there are just so many shows, and yet at the same time not all of them are leaving that good of an impression. This was a pretty weak start to a season, and it’s been quite a while since I’ve ever experienced something like this. But maybe that’s because there are three or four more shows that are still coming up. Regardless, I feel like most of the shows have some serious work to do if they want to keep things interesting this season.

And to some extent, that actually makes things a little exciting. But if your’e the kinda person who wants to be sure about what they’re watching, I suggest holding out until mid-season, once the shows have more or less established themselves.

So yeah, let’s run down the mess of a season we have before us, from my favorite to my least! This is Spring 2017! Continue reading

Spring 2017 – Previews (Part 3)

mpv-shot0006.jpg

Where are all the good animu? Tell me, and I’ll spare your life…

Well, thankfully these next three titles sorta made up for the disaster of the last few entries I watched. As a matter of fact, all three of the following shows in this preview post weren’t in my original viewing schedule; they were subsequently added after I read some rather positive impression on them. The other shows that are on my list, apparently, won’t be airing until later this week. So instead of waiting it out, I decided to check out what all the buzz was about — and boy, was I glad I didn’t miss out on these shows. Not that they’re instant sells or anything like that; but they DID give me a little more hope for this season.

So for this entry, we’ve got flying girlscrafty negotiators, and pseudo-monarchs. Yeah, I always come up with such weird adjectives. Anyway, let’s DO THIS! Continue reading
